fresh catch

Our cool down is much appreciated. After 100º temperatures on Wednesday, we are having cool and relatively humid weather. I woke to LOTS of clouds and decided to head to Addenbrook Park to see the geese! Much to my surprise, there was a pair of American White Pelicans working the lake for what looked like many-a-good-bite to eat.

I tried to get close but they were very busy moving about catching their meal. They were the only meat-eaters on the water!
Then off they flew – quite a sight.

It was dark and cloudy for the time I was there – but several people commented to me how beautiful the clouds were as they took their morning walks. I could not agree more.

Pelicans are fascinating creatures to watch, Ptelea.

I saw a brown pelican last year in the Outer Banks that was very docile. You could almost walk up and pet him.

I am amazed that such large birds can effortlessly take flight.

Beautiful photos Ptelea. I love the bottom one, lovely sky. Those pelicans look great too.
