walking on eggshells

Many highs and lows in the last weeks. It is almost more than I can remember.

Three incredible days of Eric Johnson concerts in the company of my friend Lois.
Work issues.
Joy and pain in my young adult sons.
More work issues.
Travel to Hawaii
Reorganization at work.

Sudden death of my beloved pet, Wiskerz.

Time to take a deep breath and re-center.
I have been reading a lot and listening to music and immersing myself in books of photography and reading all of my old posts about him.

I have decided to plant a tree in honor of Wiskerz - he loved his back yard and his spirit will nourish the new life.

The house is so quiet without him.

warp & weft – that subtle fabric of life

After walking away from that glorious show of sunrise, I am surprised that my eyes are not blinded by the glare of the vibrant colors I have just seen. The wavy lines of the dried grasses
leading-this-way-and-that-way
draw my attention to the riot of subtle colors and textures. This view and these colors are as fleeting as the sunrise, this time after summer and before the
wind-and-cold-and-snow
draw out the life and flatten the texture
this is their time to shine.

All in that little distance between the lake and the parking lot.

drifting

I don’t care how many times I watch the sun rise, it is magic when little patches of pink appear out of nowhere and streak across the sky.

I feel somewhat adrift with no purpose right now – waiting for the current to give me direction. Or should I listen to my inner thoughts and chart a course to ……

First I think I will join my sister, step mom and 84-year-old father in Hawaii for some fun and relaxation. This will be my first trip there since I fell under the spell of photography. I wonder what I will see.
